Another point, somebody brought up the NBA's cowtowing to China. What does this have to do with COVID-19 or, more speficially to my posts, with Trump's response to COVID-19?

Ditto for the Vox video. The article still references new diseases in China.

The travel ban was a good move by the admin, no doubt. But when you look at the severe lack of testing (esp early on), the shortage of medical equipment and Trump's own words, it's hard to not come to the conclusion that this wasn't downplayed.

As I stated earlier, I can blame both Trump's admin and China.

China lied about the human-to-human transmission aspect, as one of you has said. They also maybe cooked up some false numbers. Their wet markets are repulsive and should be banned immediately. They should face repercussions after this has boiled over.

But, none of those things are exclusive to Trump's response. About a month ago he said (paraphrase): "There are 15 cases that will soon be 0." Does that sound to you like someone who was taking the problem seriously or even realistically?
It looks like you forgot what you said:

To be clear, China at that time started lying that the virus came from the US and was blaming the US military for spreading it to their country. So Trump responded it's a virus from China to simply remind the public of the truth, to destroy China's lies. Which side does CNN take? Which side do the Democrats take? They called the president a racist. He bans travelers from China--they call him a racist.

You say the president said "there are 15 cases that will soon be 0." All over the media we are hearing that 200k will die because Dr. Fauci threw a number in the air. How is that any more realistic? That sounds like fear mongering. He might as well claim there will be a mushroom cloud that forms afterwards.

If I had to use your measure of reason against Obama, how would he fare?

He said the protesters that killed ambassador in Libya were upset over a video. In reality this was a planned attack meant to commemorate 9/11, not some riot that got out of control. Obama didn't want to own up to the fact that protesters were jihadists! That's who he supported in the war in Libya. You get it! He was hiding that fact from the public and the media played along with it knowing this. They all lied. They all covered it up. How does that sound to you? You like being to lied to chump?

Even his great and wonderful health care act was one big lie. Obama's goal was to create a single-payer healthcare system, but constitutionally this was impossible and having a constitutional convention was politically too difficult to achieve. So they created a law tortured enough to still pass muster with the Supreme Court's judgement and the actual goal of ACA was to destroy the healthcare insurance industry and to make the issue so bad that it would force the passage of a single-payer healthcare system, that it would force the collapse of privately run health insurance. That's why employer's had to fire people once health insurers went belly up and their healthcare premiums sky rocketed. Obama naively believed he could manage it so it wouldn't get to be so bad, but bad enough to still force through a single-payer system. He was wrong. And he played politics by blaming Republicans for making the mess he in fact was responsible for.

Yeah Trump says a lot of things. He runs his mouth, fumbling his words, a lot like Biden, the man you want to replace him. Biden thought the ban on Chinese travelers was the wrong move, yet we all agree it was the right one. I wouldn't mind Biden as president, even though he's corrupt and suffering from a mild form of dementia, but Trump isn't a disaster of a president. His biggest fault is the fact he's a dupe/agent for Israel (and the brainwashers still convince the public he's an anti-Semitic white supremacist, you cannot make this shit up), not that he's just as clueless as everyone else at dealing with the coronavirus. And BTW the US has been doing more testing than any other country in the world The death rate is not 10%. In Italy they are under reporting the number of cases due to a lack of testing, which goes to show that the US is doing a much better job of actually testing people.

    • I must have hit a nerve though, you've resorted to ad hominems and an overall harsher tone. Typical.
I got banned for much less at Phantis because people who hold your opinions couldn't handle the facts. And the fact is you are brainwashed!

Have you taken it? And you're sure that making boys and men take is not about increasing their market share? It's not at all about the bottom line?

      And how's this for ignorance:

THOUSANDS OF TEENAGE GIRLS REPORT FEELING SERIOUSLY ILL AFTER ROUTINE SCHOOL CANCER VACCINATION

      https://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...-10286876.html

Yet the past four years have turned into a nightmare for the family as Emily soon suffered apparent side effects. Only two weeks after her first HPV injection, the teenager experienced dizziness and nausea.
“The symptoms grew increasingly worse after the second and third injections, and I went to A&E several times with severe chest and abdominal pains as well as difficulty breathing,” Emily, now 17, said. “One time I couldn’t move anything on one side of my body. I didn’t know what was happening.”
The MHRA said that the figures did not reflect the true amount of suspected ADRs because of an “unknown and variable level of under-reporting”. The agency estimates it receives about 10 per cent of all reports, suggesting the actual number of girls suffering suspected ADRs could be tens of thousands. It also said that “many millions” of the vaccinations were administered in this time frame without any problems reported.

“Every visit to a doctor was met with rolled eyes,” said Mrs Ryalls. “Every mention of the HPV vaccination was met with hostility and ridicule. We were eventually referred to a local paediatrician who told her to push herself to get back to normal – ‘We all feel tired in the mornings, Emily’ was one of the remarks regarding her complete exhaustion.”
      (emphasis mine)

That's what happens when the medical community has been brainwashed, just like you're brainwashed. BTW I know of a professor in the UK who was offered a bribe and it was his trusted colleague who tried to convince him to accept it. His field is immunology! That why these doctors are incredulous anytime they see cases like that of Emily Ryalls.

Further to your point, you also said:

      5. I never once discounted the suffering of children nor that of their family's. The epidemiologicaltruth is that the benefits of vaccines far, far outweigh the drawbacks. This has been determined from several studies and over thousands of people. You have no evidentiary basis for your anti-vaccine mindset. In fact, did you know the British physician who published the landmark paper that supposedly showed a connection between the MMR vaccine and autism was found to have falsified his findings and been under the payroll of lawyers?
You sure did discount their suffering. You and many doctors too. And I'm not anti-vaccine, but I'm against forcing people to take them, which you are not. And I want people to know the facts, rather than belittle people and the experiences they have with side effects that come with vaccines.

You're saying this vaccine outweighs the risk of getting cervical cancer. Of those thousands of girls who got sick, how many of them statistically would have gotten cervical cancer? Maybe one. That outweighs the risk?

People have a right to make their own decisions.

I'm with the mother of the daughter mentioned above:

“I’m not anti-vaccination,” Mrs Ryalls said, “but it’s a big area with a lot of questions. I would never say to anyone don’t have it, because it has to be a personal choice. I would say do your own research and don’t just rely on the school leaflet.”
      Amen to that.

Dr. Stephen Smith, founder of The Smith Center for Infectious Diseases and Urban Health, said on “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday night that he is optimistic about the use of antimalarial medications and antibiotics to treat COVID-19 patients calling it a “a game changer.”

According to your article, Fox News even got Dr. Oz into the act:

Dr. Oz then pointed out the part that “really caught my attention.”

“They did CT scans of the chest in all the patients. All the patients had pneumonia when they started. Over the course of the five-day treatment with the hydroxychloroquine and 55 percent of the control population where they just got the normal therapy there was resolve and resolution of the pneumonia in 81 percent of the patients on the hydroxychloroquine, there was improvement in the lung's images,” he pointed out.
“I should point out in the 31 patients that were the control group, four patients had bad outcomes, they got significantly worse. None of the patients in the hydroxychloroquine group got significantly worse,” he said.
And look at the New York Times, having to play catch up to Fox News:

A New York Times article published on Wednesday also referenced the Chinese study Dr. Oz had referred to on “Fox and Friends.”

The article, which cited doctors in China, titled “Malaria Drug Helps Virus Patients Improve, in Small Study,” highlighted the fact that hydroxychloroquine “helped to speed the recovery of a small number of patients who were mildly ill from the coronavirus.”
Fox And Friends... LOL. They're biggest idiots on TV and they're more ahead of the eight ball than the New York Times. LOL

Aren't we lucky to have Fauci and other drones tell us to ignore these studies, that they're anecdotal!

In fact, Dr. Faust (Fauci) doesn't want study it:

              https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/28/healt...ial/index.html

Despite President Donald Trump's enthusiasm for the drug hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus, the federal funding powerhouse led by Dr. Anthony Fauci isn't spending any money on it, and clinical trials for it are lagging behind other drug studies, according to a CNN investigation.
But the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases isn't sponsoring any studies on hydroxychloroquine, according to a statement from the agency, which added that the agency is "considering" trials that examine the drug or its analogue chloroquine as a potential treatment for Covid-19. studies.
              What an ass.

ABC news is reporting the president is ignoring his suggestions:

Fauci also shared some details about certain exchanges with President Donald Trump, saying that when the president drafts remarks for coronavirus-related press conferences, the president “almost always” ignores Fauci’s suggested edits.
              https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/cand...ry?id=69901189

Good. Hopefully he gets fired and discredited after this. I'm so tired of the hero worship he has received. He has literally done nothing but scare people half to death. He's just a fear monger to funnel funds to his institute and his friends in Big Pharma. Total jackass.

              • MSNBC has really dropped the ball:

There's no more virus in Wuhan.
He's a New York Times reporter telling us China is a model to follow. China has lied and is still lying about the number of cases and deaths they have. This guy accepts their narrative wholesale and then sells Chinese lies to the American public. Unbelievable.

Here's his own newspaper, just yesterday, putting back proper perspective on what's happening in China:

                https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/02/u...rus-china.html

The C.I.A. has been warning the White House since at least early February that China has vastly understated its coronavirus infections and that its count could not be relied upon as the United States compiles predictive models to fight the virus, according to current and former intelligence officials.
So far, to the frustration of both the White House and the intelligence community, the agencies have been unable to glean more accurate numbers through their collection efforts.

But American intelligence agencies have concluded that the Chinese government itself does not know the extent of the virus and is as blind as the rest of the world. Midlevel bureaucrats in the city of Wuhan, where the virus originated, and elsewhere in China have been lying about infection rates, testing and death counts, fearful that if they report numbers that are too high they will be punished, lose their position or worse, current and former intelligence officials said.

Bureaucratic misreporting is a chronic problem for any government, but it has grown worse in China as the Communist leadership has taken a more authoritarian turn in recent years under Mr. Xi.

No complete picture of the virus exists anywhere because of factors beyond government suppression, including testing shortages, varying measurement standards and asymptomatic infections that could account for up to one in four coronavirus cases.
Think about that, he claimed there were no more cases in Wuhan. If he said, according to Chinese officials and made a point of taking that information with a grain of salt, I'd be more understanding, but I can't believe he gets to go on television and say that complete nonsense.

And that Rachel Maddow. She's practically dressed like a man, looks like a man, and sounds like a pre-pubescent boy. That's who the left looks up to for news, a fake man. A woman who does herself up to look like Jon Stewart.

She's not all bad. I'll give her credit. She's a wonk and she's gets to the nitty-gritty and has an interesting perspective, but my goodness, going to bat for China is definitely a new low for her.

                  • I'm probably dreaming at this point but it would be sweet if the world started pulling production out of China. Capitalism is great and all, but if corporations are to make bigger profits by sending all labor to China, who has proved to the world that they are more concerned about perception versus saving lives, then capitalism has failed us all.

I personally do not have a problem with anyone making as much money as possible but it should become US law that no companies can source medicine, weapons, or pandemic materials to China.

All of these things need to be US made, and really this same principal should extend to the rest of the world and each respective country. Globalism has put us at risk and we are seeing things play out for the worst.

                    • Some great posting. Apparently there were various agreements in the 1970s made that dictated heavy industry should be moved to third world countries to help them out financially. It seems this silly plan may have come full circle on the West.

As for various US news outlets towing the CCP line.. this is simply disgusting. Amazing even..

I personally would like to see a movement away relying on China for products. Because of advances in production, many things China produces can now produced in the West at little cost and can be profitable for those producing them.

It is key that we continue to highlight those outlets towing the CCP lines. China - like Turkey - has a vast network of left wing Western supporters in key media roles. It is vital we continue to demonstrate to normal Westerners the hypocrisy of the left concerning China and indeed Turkey. Already the wheels are in motion from many centre left outlets to congratulate rather than punish China for its role in this Coronavirus crisis. We must continue to combat the Leftwaffe.

                            • A leading virologist in Germany's "Wuhan" says the virus doesn't spread by touching surfaces.

                              https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/wor...virus-21805392

when Prof Streeck examined the home of one infected family, he found the house did not have "any live virus on any surface", contradicting the belief that coronavirus can live on various surfaces for days.

The virus was not found on door knobs or animal fur either.
Let's hope so as that would be a major relief if true and very positive news indeed.

                              • Ok I will not quote prior comments and respond to everything so sorry if I miss a few points.

                                1. On criticism of Trump and China: I think it is stupid to call COVID-19 the "China virus" or "kung flu." I also think China should be held strongly accountable due to any wrongdoing and covering up they have done.Their wet markets should close. Trump has fucked up his response to COVID-19, from lack of testing to inappropriate allocation/availability of resources. None of those statements are contradictory.

                                2. On hydroxychloroquine/azithro in treating COVID-19: I commented earlier that we should be cautious about this treatment being a guaranteed cure. More data is being published, at times showing little to no efficacy for these drugs. For example: https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...858?via%3Dihub. I was right in urging caution and will continue to do so. Fauci, one of the world's foremost experts on infectious diseases, agrees with this opinion.

                                3. On vaccine safety: I will mostly stick with just discussing the HPV vaccine. You can read here the # of HPV vaccines given in the USA as well as total deaths or significant adverse events (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/va...fety-faqs.html) The rate of cervical, anal, penile and ENT cancers caused by HPV are orders of magnitude greater.

The data is beyond clear. You can google it yourself. Vaccine administration prevents infections/cancer at number that dwarves reported significant adverse events. Any rebuttal to this statement is not scientific nor based in reality.

That being said, vaccines are NOT perfect. Some don't work or a higher rate of side effects. For example, the BCG (tuberculosis) or Lyme vaccines.

Again, I will reiterate. "My body, my choice" is not relevant for infectious diseases. They are transmissible and thus not vaccinating your own child may very well lead to an infection in your neighbor's immunocompromised child. Not to mention, these diseases will cause both a morbidity and mortality in the general public that would be more widespread and severe compared to vaccine side-effects.
