Karnezis kept a clean sheet yesterday for Napoli in their 1-0 win over Fiorentina.
Vlahodimos didn't play yesterday in Benfica's 2-1 win over Rio Ave, but he did start in their 4-0 win the week before. It could be Vlahodimos is preparing for the UCL match against Bayern on Tuesday.
Mind boggling. All these guys should be walking into mid-lower table SL clubs instead of these no name foreigners they have.
Greed. The low level clubs in Hellas can't afford their wage demands and Greek footballers being Greek footballers - they would rather not play football - than play for lower wages than they had before.
I saw highlights of the goals Bayern scored against Benfica. Vlahodimos telegraphed his intentions to Lewandowski, who picked him apart by going far post while Vlahodimos committed himself to the near post. He was right to prioritize coverage of the near post and he did the right thing coming out of his goal and closing the angle, but he could have been a little smarter with how he went about it. He needs to keep his cards a little closer and not give away to the forward where exactly he's thinking the shot will go because once he did that it was too easy for Lewandowski to wrong foot him. Lewandoski saw he was committed near post. That said, it was a very difficult chance to deny and it would have taken a lot of quality to deny a player Lewandowski's quality on a chance like that. On the second goal he shies away from the shot, turning his head away. He needed to be braver and keep his eye on the ball. If he had, he might have gotten his hands on it and kept the score at 1-0. I think he will be disappointed with himself on that second goal especially. At 2-0 it was game over. A better keeper might have kept these shots out. He has some way to go if wants to be among the best, but he's still a very good keeper with a bright future ahead of himself.
