Milojevic seems China bound and Gracia is not interested.
Once again, Tiger wasted double the money by getting rid of a proven winner Jiminez..

Why we even got rid of Jimenez still amazes me. Sure he had his weird moments but he got us results and had a team fighting and playing for him.
Now Nikolic being mentioned, don’t know what to say. May aswell keep Kostenoglou until end of the season and find someone to start fresh for next year, this season is a right off already.

Edit: Just realised, he will probably want to sell AEK the minute the new stadium is complete. Makes sense to fill the team with cheap shit in the meantime.
Abelardo was suggested and is admired by Ivic but apparently impossible as his wages are basically the same as Jiminez's.

There’s a heap of reports coming out that Meli is selling 50% of AEK to a Russian billionaire, wonder how true this is. Or if there’s any truth to it. Apparently he’s the richest Greek in the world and an AEK fan, hope he isn’t as much a tightass as Meli if he was to take overLast edited by Original Sydney; 11-28-2019, 02:54 AM.

His son is a close friend with Meli son and was at the kypello final last year so who knows what’s going on, could be all bullshit. Part of me sees Meli selling but same time I just can’t see him selling so soon without a season or so back home. Although him keeping AEK clean and debt free makes you wonder. The 2 sons taking 50% control each would be interesting.

I as much as anyone else wanted more money to bring in good quality players, the whole loan with option and free agents works very rarely and we have used it to our advantage at times but you will never grow with this model. I cant fault Mel for being a tight ass, we would not be where we are now if it was not for him, we would not be this close to having our own stadium back again.
He helped break the Oly juggernaut of the previous 10 years or so and had his hand in dismantling the paranga to a certain degree.
I have a feeling his relationship with OPAP has some say in how much he could be involved or provide for transfers or that he did not want to spend more than the club was bringing in (which besides the CL money that went towards the stadium is not a lot), however like we have all previously stated we never asked for 10/20 million worth players. 3/5 mil max on a high quality player that could make a difference rather than players like Simao etc who were obvisouly not his pick they were Lymbe but he could only work with what tools he was provided with.
I have a feeling he will relinquish his shares once the stadium is completed which I feel was the goal to begin with and to have the club debt free and able to generate an good income year in year out. The stadium will provide that.
Either way he is up there with Louka Barlos and when he does pass away a statue in his honour at Agia sophia is inevitable.
Let's see what happens with this Greco-Russian Cement guy Kaltsidis, if anythingLast edited by Dikefale11; 11-28-2019, 09:22 AM.

So it seems the plan is finally clear. Recover or even make money from the partial sale of AEK after the stadium is complete. Seems Tiger is eyeing an Arsenal model with shareholders.
This is useful now as at least now we understand the model and understand why AEK's budget is far below PAOK, OSFP. Tiger wants the fans to see this as a basic survival model until someone else with money enters the equation.
If somehow Ivic manages to lasso Abelardo - that will be a big coup for AEK.

Abelardo was a great player in his day. He had a great understanding of the game. No one could read or anticipate things like this guy did. He was a marvel.
I still remember how unlucky he was conceding that penalty to Panathinaikos. He won the ball cleanly, but because the ball didn't pivot into a different direction and because Kolka (?) was tripped up by the sliding challenge (which meant it didn't look like he was diving), the referee mistakenly awarded it as a penalty believing Kolka got a touch past him (hence the ball continued moving in the same direction of his run). Until i saw the replay, I couldn't believe he made a clean tackle. The timing and anticipation he showed was incredible. Panathinaikos got very lucky beating that Barcelona side, but Barcelona was a weakened lion under Rexach and despite the luck, Panathinaikos did deserve the win.
Even with Spain, Abelardo was I think their best ever defender. Better than Puyol, whom he mentored, Ramos, or Hierro, for my money anyways. If not for Canizares and Molina in the Spanish goal, and had Mendieta remained on the pitch against France to take that last minute penalty (which Aberlardo had won through his experience and intelligence), Spain might have lofted the Euro 2000 cup.
