At the moment it doesn't seem to me that this project is moving forward....the government is just blowing smoke.

This project is mostly dependent on the EU recovery fund....knowing that its highly unlikely that Greece will get those funds for a stadium, simply because certain countries in the EU have a major sticking points with some of the conditions to ratify the bill.
The recovery fund is mainly for use on recovering the economic downturn from Covid 19. Since late August Poland and Hungary have been opposed for this fund because both nations don't want to take on new debts. Its been over a week now since German, Italy and France have been applying pressure for both countries to sign the deal and come to their senses.
The Greek government knows this Major hurdle for months, and yet the media in Greece which is usually sleeping just finds out???

Very shortly we will hear the devastating news that the project is on hold until futher notice. Now we can put reason on why PAO and Alafouzo have been silent....because they know there's no real deal on the horizon. And the Greek government will walk away clean shaven.

I hope this is true, can't blame PAO fans for being skeptical.

Would certainly be a big step for a bright future.

The difference between building a 35k stadium to a 40k stadium is 4 million euros. However that 4 million will have to come from Alafouzos, so a 35k stadium it is.
The design will be Salgado's 2006 design to save money.

I read 40,000. They want it to be the national team home and of course for it to shine even in Europe. 40,000 is perfect in my opinion. The stadium will change the club.

Seems the reason Alafouzos then didn't get on well with Dimitri is that guy wanted a smaller Votanikos stadium so that a basketball arena could be rammed on to the same plot.

That idea died because 1/ It would change the original planning of the site and therefore PAO would have to go through the entire planning process again. 2/ Alafouzos and Bako blocked him.

If you guys get a 40k stadium, firstly PAO will grow immensely but second, the country will grow too. This is massive.

Let's hope the PAO Amateur president is correct and the municipality keeps its promise of a 40k stadium - basically Salgado's design.

There's many reasons Alafouzos doesn't get along with Dimitri....the basketball stadium is one of many.

Another reason was 2 years ago, when Dimitri came up with his ridiculous bid to acquire Alafouzos shares for the company. If we can remember his negotiating approach was for Alafouzo to drop 28 million and walk away. Basically drop 28 million and then Dimitri takes control owing 20 million in debts....so in hindsight he would have bought the team for 20 million, and Alafouzos losses 28 million, Dimitris bargain price lol. He then started a mud campaign against Alafouzo through his media sources to apply pressure hoping Alafouzo folds.

As it turns out, Alafouzo gambled by investing another 30 million into PAO, and it seems likely that he will benefit big time. In all Alafouzos invested 50 million, will basically have PAO debt free within a year and half going into a new state of the art stadium. At this point Alafouzos in the near future, can sell 48 percent of the shares that will probably be worth 35 million and still control the club with a much higher revenue return once PAO enters Votanikos.

This battle between Alafouzos and Dimitri was easily won by Alafouzo. In fact we hear very little noise out of Dimitri, probably out of sure embarrassment.
