When the best Greek player of that bunch can't even break into the first team of a second division side in France, then I guess that sums up the quality of Greek footballers. Frankly, we do produce good players, but at the professional level there is a massive stumbling block for many and this is the reason. We need to do more to help our own, and that includes Greek coaches.

Greek manager's reluctance to coach abroad unless it is Arab money.
Many Greek players themselves being afraid to go abroad - see Bouzoukis this summer.
The league having no limits on how many non Greek players you can field.
The league itself having poor stadia which damages everything.
No B sides permitted in Greece. This means up and coming talents from the big teams who just need games either go on loan and take their chances there, or sit on the bench.
Corruption - young players coming up for through the leagues often have to pay clubs to give them starts..
Greek NT often selecting shit players who havent played in months over in form Greeks - this disillusions many young Greeks players when they realise the Greek NT is not a meritocracy but a low key business.
As for the Greeks themselves - they have a lot of talent but just not always the outlet or correct training.Comment

Asteras doing very well lately. Beat PAOK 2-1. The thing is though most of there starting 11 only has 2 Greeks. Kotsiras and the keeper Tsiftsis. A lot of foreigners... This doesn’t really help the young Greeks that want to come through. There should be a limit of foreigners in the team. This would be a cheaper solution and you’ll probably get better quality from playing young Greeks. Asteras do have good players from there academy.
Also letting Douvikas go for free is pure madness.Comment
