  • New Zealand Attack

As most of you have probably heard, there was 2 attacks on mosques in New Zealand that has claimed the lives of 49 people with scores of others who have been injured.

The attacker live streamed the attacks - which I have not personally seen, nor will I see, because it's beyond barbaric.

There's a picture floating around on twitter of the AR-15 used during the attack that mentions various people/instances of islam being defeated, and one noticeable inclusion was "turkofagos" on the gun.

    Curious about the Turkofagos slogan.

Seems he had plenty of slogans on there:

Terrible attack and very cowardly. Talk about pouring petrol on a fire.

His manifesto references the recapturing of Constantinople and the fleeing of turks and on the gun used there are various references to major muslim and turkish defeats that halted the advance of islam in europe.

      Shooters Manifesto

Reference to the turks on page 28

      https://www.documentcloud.org/docume...d-Shooter.html

Which is obviously trying to get a rise and to force further division

Jeez this guy has followed the expansion of islam into europe over centuries.. Interesting. The far right often blame israel for everything. He seems to see the rise of islam as the real threat in his eyes. It seems almost like the far left are now blaming Israel more and the far right are concentrating on the spread of islam across the west.

He is a white nationalist, and sees the migrant issue as the west's capitulation and degradation.

He even says that the white race has itself to blame because white European males are no longer strong.

The unfortunate thing is ISIS has already come out urging its followers to seek revenge, and Erdogan continues with his inflamattory rhetoric regarding the israel/palestine issue.

This kinda rhetoric not only makes things worse, but it increases tensions/division, and also emboldens radicalized people on both sides to act upon their fucked up beliefs.

I wouldn't be shocked if within the next month, someone who is an ISIS supporter shoots up a church as a means to hit back.

The polarization of radical islam vs white nationalism is going to be a major issue the world faces going forward

Evil. There's no other way to describe an attack like this. I can't imagine what the families of these victims are going through.

I certainly don't want it to happen to anyone else, but some of the political actions advocated in what I've read and heard would do little to nothing to prevent these kinds of attacks. Those advocating that guns be banned or harder to purchase should realize that guns would be illegally manufactured or smuggled instead. Illegal guns would be as easily purchased as drugs or prostitutes; they'll just be more expensive. And it's worth stressing that the portions of the drug trade is now becoming legal only so they can better regulate it and take it out of the hands of criminal elements. Also it's not worth sacrificing our privacy and comfort to ensure our 100% safety against acts of terrorism like this. The fact is we will never be 100% safe. Moreover, these attacks are extraordinarily rare. I'm likelier to win the lottery than to be affected by an act of terror.

Places of worship, schools, workplaces, etc, need action plans to deal with the threat of crime and violence of any kind. Ideally, the best thing to do is hire an armed guard or get a qualified volunteer to stand guard.

That said, I too fear this may lead to an act of vengeance by ISIS inspired individuals. Like you said, ISIS is already promoting revenge. And the likely target would be Christian churchgoers. Anyone going to church should consider their safety.

As horrible and despicable the recent Christchurch tragedy was, there's another story just as horrible and despicable playing out right now in north-central Nigeria that touches on the same exact themes as this shooting.

The Christian Post states that 120 people killed, 140 homes destroyed by Nigeria Fulani since February. According to Christian Solidarity Worldwide:

On 11 March, 52 people were killed and around 100 homes were destroyed in attacks on Inkirimi and Dogonnoma villages in Maro, Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA). The victims included women and children. According to survivors, their assailants divided into three groups; one group was shooting, another set fire to homes as people ran away, and the third waited in the bush to intercept fleeing villagers. Later that evening, dozens of people were injured and 43 houses were burnt in an attack on Ungwan Gora village.
The Fulani herdsmen are Muslim. They are also stealing cattle and destroying crops. In an interview with the Morningstar News, two members of a church affected by the attacks stated the aim of the Fulani herdsmen is to cleanse Christians from that part of the country.

There are fears this could fan the flames and polarize Nigerians, a country heavily populated along Christian and Muslim lines.

You'll notice all the reports I'm citing are from Christian groups. That's because tragedies like these don't fit the narratives at the Washington Post and New York Times. They fit the narratives at Breitbart. All these media outlets are taking these tragedies and spinning them to suit their narratives, which frankly don't even scratch the surface of these problems. I'm really sick of these outlets and their agendas.

No one wants to talk about the persecution Christians undergo on a daily basis in various parts of the world. The Yizidis and the christians of various African and Middle Eastern countries are being wiped out, but since it doesn't fit the narrative of far right/white nationalist terror, it won't get the screen time and social media recognition it deserves.

The bottom line really is all radical behavior, no mater the religion, or socio-political leaning is wrong.

The fact that one event gets more coverage and is forcing backlash on conservatives will further embolden those far right extremists to commit further atrocities.

The media is largely to blame for a lot of these modern day attacks, but far too few want to acknowledge that.

Also, breaking news out of Holland, terrorist attack in Utrecht, Gunman opened fire on tram,3 dead, 9 injured, and suspect is.... Turkish national by the name of Gokman Tanis.

Turkey is still the unofficial heart of Sunni Islam. Always has been.

100% accurate. Turkey is a cesspool that for some reason has not been recognized as such by the powers that be. If it has been recognized as such, then there's some other reasons why they won't do anything about it.
