^ Greece and Cyprus have continued to veto sanctions against Belarus as a result. Turkey is playing the game and the EU is reluctant to upset the apple cart. Something may eventually give.

I hope this story gains more international traction. It needs to be told.

Also, there are new escalations in Syria. Apparently the al-Qaeda offshoot, HTS, was planning to stage a chemical attack to provoke an international response (makes you wonder who pulls their strings? Turkey, US, UK... those disgraceful tentacles still reach from afar). Syria's foreign minister has accused Turkey of the being the region's biggest sponsor of terror. Anyone who supports al-Qaeda linked groups deserves that accolade.

Meanwhile in Libya, Turkey is no longer in the same advantageous position. Egypt is having more influence over developments now and whatever the Turks wish to achieve will need to be achieved with some level of Egyptian blessing. The Turks still hold cards and are still involved in affairs with their support of Bashaga, the man vying to replace Sarraj, but there are fractures and fault lines all along the alliance that forms the government (some having old scores to settle from fighting before the uneasy truce).

Armenia has declared a state of war after attacks launched by Azerbaijan. That they shipped in Syrian jihadis to fight Armenia is the last straw. The same terrorists linked groups responsible for the Paris attacks are being used by Turkey to fight their wars. All this time the EU has been sending billions to Turkey to take care of these people.

Greece needs to echo statements by the Syrian foreign ministry and say Erdogan is the biggest sponsor of terror in the region, the new Iran, and push hard for sanctions. Or what is happening in Armenia now will come to Greece.

Thirty-three members of foreign non-government organizations and two foreign nationals alleged to have illegally facilitated the illegal entry of asylum seekers from Turkey into Greece are facing criminal charges including running a criminal organization and espionage and violating state secrets, the Greek Police (ELAS) said on Monday.

It has been linked to at least 32 cases of migrant smuggling or attempted smuggling, the statement said, adding that the investigation is continuing to determine the breadth of the alleged racket's activities.
