You realise Mitsotakis does not believe in foreign Greek deployment - anywhere on earth - under any circumstances? He follows Dora's philosophy, 'If Greece deploys, it will be total war.' Turkey is aware that Dora's non-proactive foreign policy is almost completely accepted in Greece and they are acting on that knowledge. Turkey drilling wherever it wants. Greece refusing to fire on the Turkish vessels and allowing it. The most I can see the Greeks doing is coming close to the Turkish support vessels - if that. Basically the Greek navy wasting diesel the way the Greek airforce wastes kerosene play fighting with Turkish jets over the docenese.
Mitsotakis and the Greek press complaining to Germany, EU, NATO with the headline, 'We have been betrayed' when no one does anything.
Turkey is aware the Greek armed forces are there for show - not for use. Every day the Greek airforce refuses to shoot down a violating Turkish F16 proves it.Comment

The decision has been made by Dora years ago. None. Will probably be the same policy for uninhabited Greek islands too. Dora is not the prime minister and she doesn't speak for Greece's generals, marshals, and admirals. We need to confront the Turks, but we need to weigh very carefully the lives we may risk. Our people need to be brave and smart, not brave and stupid.Comment

I dunno man, I read To Vima pretty much every day and every other day, she is in the headlines saying if Greece does anything - anything at all militarily against Turkey - no matter what Turkey does - there will be all out war and 100,000s of Greek lives will be a risk. She states clearly the only option is diplomacy. She even has a bigger platform than Tsipras. I read the comments and most politicians agree with her. The generals, marshals and admirals - they answer to her brother Mitsotakis. The Turks know her strategy well and they sent out that ship today because they believe it is Mitsotakis' strategy too. To be honest, I think it is Greece strategy and strategies like that do not belong to a sovereign nation. As for risking lives - risking lives on some stupid war in a foreign land is deplorable. Funny, I see constant newspaper/ media polls in Greece. Haven't seen one recently asking Greeks how they want the country to react to a Turkish invasion of Greek land or sea, with force or diplomacy. The Greek media is purposefully keeping the issue ambiguous.Comment

Nikos Dendias spoke to his Egyptian counterpart today - I think both sides may be hastily running to get the EEZ agreement done between them.
At this rate, it would be one of the biggest ways to stave off Turkey. July 24th Erdogan will host Islamic prayers within Agia Sofia after it was transformed back into a mosque and I believe he will also use that day as a double whammy to attempt the illegal drilling.
Greece and Cyprus both issued NAVTEX's for the same area Turkey did so we are certainly going to see some fireworks soon.
Reports are also coming out that there are special forces units amassing in Kas (Turkish town opposite Kastelorizo).
I wan to ask everyone on this forum that if they come across any information pertaining to Greek army/navy/airforce movements, to not post same on social media or this forum. Turkey should not be privy to any information regarding any movements on our side.

I would also like to add that July 24th is the anniversary of the signing of the Lauseanne Treaty - Erdogan is going to use this day to do something.
Apparently Merkel prevented further escalation yesterday - but I believe Erdogan is merely holding off - Erdogan is not going to back down from any of this, he can't at this point.Comment

It looks like Turkey and Russia are happy with the current stalemate in Libya, something that favors the Turks as far as it relates to us.
In the meantime, the US is buying the F-35s they built for Turkey and the House has passed a bill that would apply sanctions against Turkey.Comment

Trump and Erdogan agreed to cooperate against the Russian existence in Libya, the intelligence website reported, pointing out that Russia is working in Libya through the support of the Wagner mercenary group.

Despite the losses suffered by Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army (LNA), Russia is doubling down on its military presence in the country.
There is also the threat of Egyptian military intervention if Turkey and the GNA move forward with their military offensive on Sirte and Jufra. The UAE is redoubling its efforts, while France and Turkey are increasingly engaged in public geopolitical bickering over Libya and the Eastern Mediterranean.The GNA has yet to prove that it can act as the official government of Libya, rather than just another warring faction. The major test will be the GNA’s capacity in governance, including the provision of basic services and the treatment of people in newly acquired territories.When it comes to the governance of Sirte and Jufra, Turkey will arguably be open to different options, rather than the GNA’s full control. Local administration of these areas or the presence of an international force could be alternatives to full control by the GNA or LNA, but the LNA’s control appears to be the main red line for Turkey.

Mitsotakis spoke to Putin today - this comes after the State Department's half assed "condemnation" of Turkey's actions while categorizing the area where Turks wants to drill as "disputed".
This is a smart play not because Russia will help, but because it is an instance of us showing that we will not blindly follow America if it does not benefit us.
America cannot have Pyatt saying the islands have full EEZ, while the state department says "disputed waters" and trump is being buddy buddy with erdogan. In my estimation, Erdogan is trying to figure out whether trump is going to lose in November and I think if he feels he will, he will strike now because he feels like right now he can get away with it.
Then there's unconfirmed reports that Germany told the turks to back off, and the turks had withdrawn, this has bee debunked by Greece's military.
