Is Donald Trump Going to Do the Syria Backflip? by Publius Tacitus
This article is written by a retired CIA officer pointing the hypocrisy of Trump's thoughts on committing military force against Syria.
If there is anyone who believes Assad plans to use chemical weapons in Idlib, a breakaway province literally overrun by an al Qaeda offshoot, I'll have you know that Saddam Hussein has some nuclear weapons he'd like to sell you. But don't blame Trump alone, the media and Trump's so-called enemy, the "deep state," is gung ho to get behind these lies.
So Donald Trump is again carrying water for Israel, the only country, other than Saudi Arabia, he actually colludes with on anything. If there was ever a good time for the Russians to expose Trump's pee tape, now would probably be it. Obviously, only an idiot would actually believe any such tape exists.
So why is Trump actually threatening action against Syria? It's because Syria is bordered with Israel and the Iranians have a lot of their own people stationed in Syria, an Iranian ally. This prospect frightens Israel in the event a potential war were to break out between them and the Iranians because that would put Iranian forces in a position to launch a ground offensive against Israel. What Trump is trying to do is get the Iranians to back down and move their forces out of Syria. That's his objective here.
The problem with this region is that if a war were to breakout between Iran and Israel it would lead to a major international crisis, oil prices would skyrocket, the world economy would tank, and the likelihood of there being a new world war would be very high. It's anyone's guess who China goes to bat for, but at this point I think they would stand against Trump's America.
When you understand this, you'll understand why the US debt currently stands at 20 trillion. It's been a rat race for the past 30-40 years of driving the country into economic collapse and a war of this kind was always in the cards, be it North Korea or Iran being used to pull the trigger. They're quite content to allow Russia to strike the West with nuclear weapons and then say "look, Putin is Hitler" while a lot of these robber scum hide away in bunkers and move south of the equator to places like New Zealand. I'd say for the rest of us, try to keep your house stocked with a little extra food and supplies for a little while.
Now Trump is banking on the idea that he can intimidate Iran and others into submission. America has the world's preeminent military force; however, Russia has nuclear weapons. Now Trump and other advisers think the Russians won't use them (not that any of them are at risk of dying and suffering, unlike the rest of us) and that the Russians will back down because the Russian military forces aren't strong enough to contend with American firepower. Well, what if Iran goes kamikaze like the Japanese, except the Iranians don't fear being razed to the ground by nukes and think the end of the world is upon all of us anyways? The Japanese knew at least when to back down. Iran might not know when and this could lead to major chaos.
Something tells me Trump should be careful because before he knows it, he'll have a worse war on his hands than LBJ had in Vietnam, and it may lead to the outright exchange of nuclear weapons.
