What the world is like just south of the US border:

    https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10280224/sonora-cartel-attack-mexico-us-families-dead/

BABIES were reportedly burned alive and women raped when cartel killers slaughtered nine US Mormons in a "targeted" hit in Mexico. The victims were ambushed by the merciless gunmen as they drove to a wedding in the border state of Sonora on Monday.

Sonora is shown below highlighted in red:

Other young children managed to escape and hide by the roadside while one of the mothers was shot in the chest as she put her hands up to surrender.

Survivors described how one boy managed to hide his wounded siblings - some less than a year old - in bushes before he ran back to the nearby town to get help.
It was unclear what motivated the killings, which took place on a dirt road between Chihuahua and Sonora states.

Family members believe it was an attempted kidnapping after one relative reported receiving a phone call hearing screams before they were executed.
In the first half of 2019, there were a staggering 17,608 gangland murders in Mexico- with 94 people being killed every single day.

Last year saw a total of 33,341, making it the bloodiest year on record, but this year is set to be the most violent of all time.

In recent years, large cartels have splintered into smaller factions who then battle for previously shared turf, escalating the violence, and prompting kidnaps and torture.

    And this:

I reckon so many people watching the film Sicario imagined it was just Hollywood exaggeration.. If any of them care to open their eyes, they would see the film describes just the tip of the iceberg..

I did. It's been a problem simmering for years and its effects are felt across the border. Generally, they go after their own, which is why we see little of it mentioned on the news, including when it involves machete attacks on Salvadoran kids in Long Island. Now that white Mormons were targeted, that will get national coverage in the US.

I can imagine the more left wing type of US outlets don't want to dwell on these type of events that prove a lot of what Trump was saying about Mexico correct.

They'll have to. Mexicans know what's happening to their country and they'll want US help one way or the other. Mexico can't deal with this threat.

Also, the left in the US, like the right, are both co-opted by the establishment, but the real support is with the Sanders and Tea Party type candidates. No one cares for establishment types. For example, Pelosi and Schumer have favorability ratings lower than Trump. Biden is still polling well, but he's a loser candidate. It's Warren or Clinton for the nomination.

Trump thinks it will be Warren.

As I suspected, the msm is not too interested in this story:

I thought we'd see more sensible coverage. I was wrong:

Scum. Trump needs to turn this into a campaign issue.

Why does the US left not want to admit Mexico is a failed state? Reading the comments under the article the US left is saying it is the US's fault mexico is bedlam because of all the drugs it demands.

                        Two points.

1/ Mexico has never been safe. Not in ancient times, not in victorian times, not today.
2/ Mexico's main narcotic export to the US is cannabis. If I had to guess which voting demographic bought more of it I would go democrat over republican.

If you get time Don - I have a good film recommendation for you, Elite Squad. It is a Brazilian film and the Brazilian left hated it. Everyone else in the world loved it.
