  • The Re-Ottomanisation of the Aegean Islands

Lesbos and Chios experience massive riots by the locals fighting to not allow Mitsotakis to build Sunni mega complexes for 'refugees' on major North Aegean Islands. The riots against Mitsotakis' unravelling of the Greek Revolution:

60 Greece police hospitalised in less than 24 hours and 10 protestors. Mitsotakis putting Greek against Greek for Sunni.

These islands paid the price for freedom - some of the most infamous massacres of Christians on earth:

I am majorly disappointed in Mitsotakis and the ND for the way they are handling this. IMO, ND is the only serious political party in Greece and I fear the voters may turn to the bozo Tsipras again.

Yip major mistake he chose this issue to put his foot down...

Mitsotakis has Greeks fighting Greeks - all for the rights of Sunni muslims. Erdogan could not have wished for a better bey.

Mitsotakis' plan is to bottleneck the migrants on to these islands so the migrants get the idea that there is no pathway for them beyond that point. The goal is to make them return. Given the reactions of our countrymen, it's understandable why they are so incensed over this policy.

We can't process "asylum seekers" like this anymore. If they want asylum, they will need to seek it from outside of Greece, not after they barge down the door. We should be turning their ships back. Right now we are completing the human smuggling process.

I wouldn't even call it a migrant crisis anymore. I'd call it a human smuggling crisis.

If Mitsotakis is the leader I hope him to be, he needs to call a spade, a spade. He can't hesitate to talk about this crisis as the result of failed intervention of other nations, similar to those now undertaken now by Turkey, which only exacerbate the problem. He should mention how Turkey threatens Greece with the prospect of sending in too many migrants. He needs to give a cue to the left and say this is about exploiting migrants for the purpose of cheap labor. This is an issue for the whole of Europe, not just Greece to bear the brunt of it, and he needs to stress that too. It's time for him to speak up with more gravity and assurance, show real leadership to command more flexibility and support from the EU to turn back these ships.

Speaking of re-Ottoomanisation, Erdogan claims Idlib belongs to Turkey:

          https://www.rt.com/news/481712-erdogan-idlib-step-back/

“We will not step back in Idlib. We are not the guests in this realm, we are the hosts,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a meeting of his AK party on Wednesday. Vowing to bring “the regime’s attacks” to an end, Erdogan said Ankara is giving Damascus time to pull forces back from Turkish observation posts, but that time “is expiring at the end of the month.”[

Erdogan said he'd tried to secure Donald Trump's support before getting tough on Idlib, “but there is no support yet.” He said: “It seems that we will have another meeting this time.”
          Pentagon's response:

          https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/ori...ump-esper.html

The Donald Trump administration is not considering reengaging militarily in the Syrian civil war amid stepped-up fighting in Idlib province, Defense Secretary Mark Esper told lawmakers today.
“There has not been that discussion about reengaging in the civil war,” the Pentagon chief said under questioning from Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Trump ally, at a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Wednesday. “At this point in time, I don’t see any likelihood that we would be back along the border.”
Turkey has asked the United States for Patriot missile coverage to defend against a possible Syrian or Russian barrage along the border. On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters he had learned that the United States did not have any of the batteries to give, but said he planned to raise the issue again with Trump.

The Pentagon has already deployed three Patriot systems to Saudi Arabia since the Trump administration suspected Iran targeted oil installations in a September missile attack, but officials insist that Riyadh has already paid $500 million to offset US costs.

Mitsotakis' actions are so far left in this instance - so anti Greek, his idiocy is probably tempting some generals to start talking about a coup.

I always said Dora was playing for the other side. Sad to see her brother follow her.

He needs to shut the border down. No more processing of any asylum seekers. The border issue is once again a major security issue and he has to respond by shutting it down, telling people to go back. Leave them stranded in the waters if we must. Turkey got over 6 billion euros from the EU to respond to this crisis and all they care about is worsening the problem.

It's time to get tough on this issue!

Dora policy says... naaa.. Diplomacy is the answer! Greece ''''speaking''''' with Merkel now.

Mitsotakis is only tough on Greeks who dont want migrants - he will use MAT on any Greek who doesn't want migrant centres.

Mitsotakis closed the land border. Any news on whether the navy has been deployed to stop the illegals from coming thru to the islands on boat? This needs to be stopped at all costs.

Nope. Pictures of arrivals today on Lesbos:

What's stopping the locals from coming onto the beaches and attacking them directly?

Earlier on Friday, more than 60 migrants, most from Afghanistan, arrived on dinghies at the island of Lesbos, a Reuters witness said. Another boat carrying about 50 people reached the island of Samos, police said.
