100% correct. In the modern game you cant play with players constantly out of position and players such as Bakasetas and Giannoulis in attacking roles keeping Tzolis on the bench. The coach is to blame, closely followed by the Greek media who have portrayed Bakasetas as the Greek Maradona.Originally posted by Dean97 View PostComment

Very good 1st half and we were unlucky with 2 goal posts. Unfortunately two huge mistakes cost the team today. JVS was spot on in the way he deployed the team today. Sweden had nothing until we gifted them. I like the way that JVS has organized the team and he has them playing for each other. He definitely has his faults but I can live with them because at least the players are playing for the shirt again. I would give him the next Euro qualifiers to see this through. This team is still a work in progress because some of the players are either not good enough or experienced enough. I think that we at least turned the corner from the dark days of 2015-2020.Comment

Whilst JVS did make some mistakes this is really on the players, we gifted Sweden two goals, you can't blame the coach for that. Did he take too long to make changes, yes he did, we executed a good game in the first half, but didnt step up at all in the second, once Mavropanos make the biggest mistake he could we just couldnt execute like we did and needed fresh legs.Comment

You make a good point Amorgo but we wouldn’t be in this mess if we got it right against Georgia and Kosovo. Inexcusable to draw against teams like that. Losing to Sweden or a Spain was going to happen. If we were to win the games we are supposed to then this game wouldn’t of been a big deal. JVS has to better evaluate our talent pool because a hand full of these players won’t take us much further than where we are right now. Look I agree with that, looking at it historically there are many mistakes JVS has made and as I said his game management is poor, and going back further, and this game proves it, the lack of experience and character is really hurting us, had we had guys like Manolas, Papastathopoulos and Siovas there this does not happen.
Our big issue is that and we dont really have a playmaker without Fortounis around plus a striker so it's very very hard now, but for the 2024 Euro's there is talent and potential so it's critical what happens next and which direction we go inComment

So seeing as we went into a must win game with 3 CBs (one of whom had never played that position in his life) - VS may want to do the same again seeing as the press heralded his tactics. Perhaps this for our next game knowing his IQ - we could see the most ever LBs on the pitch (5) at the same time for any team in the world - I would actually be proud for Greece to break that record - the EPO, press and VS himself are all responsible:

The 1st half of the game was probably some of the best we have played in years. Even in the 2nd half, we were playing well until the penalty. Really unlucky with the penalty, if we don't concede it, I really believe we end up winning. We are a player or two away from being really good!Comment

1/ It is a shame no one on the panel broaches the subject of the Greek sports media which rightly or wrongly have a massive influence on selections, the coach and the status quo etc etc. You mentioned players who shouldn't be there, lineups that don't make sense. If most the media states VS was excellent - what chance is there of any real debate? Take yesterday for example - how many papers concentrated on an LB playing as CB for the first time in his life? How many commented on how Sweden changed their tactics at half time and Greece didn't? This all shields the coach, shields his lineups, call ups etc. Add to that the worship of Bakasetas in that shit Turkish league..
2/ It seems the EPO gets a pass. None of their daily corruption and failures were mentioned. The fact that most former EPO presidents have been successfully convicted of fraud has no bearing? Again, they are instrumental concerning the image we see on the pitch. They are running the SL in such a haphazard way - even the Taliban would be embarrassed.Comment
