  • Euro 2024 Qualifying

Our group includes Gibraltar, Netherlands, France, and the Republic of Ireland. Lord have mercy.

We should be looking at 12 points playing Gibraltar and Ireland and I base that on the latter not being of a particularly good vintage for a while.

France have had their problems but their sheer talent will be too much to cope with, so best we can hope for there is to keep the GA as low as possible.

The Netherlands have a decent squad to be sure, but I don't know that we can't nick a partial result from them.

Terrible draw for us but we test ourselves against the big boys, will def keep an eye on France and Holland in the upcoming World Cup. If we can get 6 points on Ireland and hope they take some points off France or Netherlands you never know but at this stage, thank god we have the play off via UNL

Nothing is confirmed, if ever a stadium like that is needed to help against these teams, this is it

Sorry for being late to the party, but agree with everyone, lousy draw, thanks in big part to the 16 euro qualifying campaign. It was bound to happen, having two of the big football superpowers in a qualifying campaign. I personally think the Dutch are going to be a tougher team than France, as the Dutch are playing some of the best football compared to the other European blue bloods, especially in nations league. Hell, you get Memphis Depay interested and playing well, you know Van Gaal is doing something right and at 13 to 1 to win wc, not a bad flier to take the Dutch.

Pelkas, mantalos, Giakoumakis in Konstatelias, Fortounis, Pavlidis out
            ...
I don't even mind Giakoumakis if paired with
Pavlidis, it's freakn Girbralter you're playing. Why do you have Masouras up front with Giakoumakis.
Masouras has been unconvincing with oly all season

Heard Douvikas was just called up. Replaces Ioannidis, who picked up a knock in training

Great selections from Gus for the Dutch qualifier. More of these junk selections for the nt. Doesn't matter who's in charge of nt, 20 or so years of this crap, the outlier obviously was 04, but obviously, that was a cosmic miracle and not any sort of consistent success that was built upon, shame.

We copped it today, smashed 3-0, luckily the Dutch cruised it in the second half to avoid more embarrassment. Horrendous call ups, back to the same guys no matter what,,, best talent watching on at home. Poyet doing more damage than good right now

Amazing isn't it, guys like Bakasetas and Mantalos look like giant killers against teams like Kosovo and Girbralter but come crashing down to earth against France and Holland. You look at the last 2 games and there's a correlation between leaving out and not playing some of our more talented players like, delias, Fortounis and for that matter Lambrou, just look at Excelsior's game against Ajax, and not creating ONE solitary chance on goal in the final third in both the French and Dutch games. Totally bereft of ideas in the final third. I mean how many bad touches can Mantalos have that ruin counters, mind boggling!!!

Just a quick question, because of epo's fuckup about the accumulation of yellows, which led to our four players not playing against Girbralter, can we in theory forfeit the points we got against Girbralter because we played Alexondropoulos, who was an emergency call up because of those supposed players with yellows??

Lost 0-1 to Holland at home... Midfield slaughtered imo, any other thoughts?

Chicken shit tactics and lineup against a depleted Dutch squad. Poyet thought he could kill the game up until 10 or 15 minutes left and throw caution to the wind. What was throwing caution to the wind you say, having three, really four strikers the last 10 or so minutes left in the game, with Siopis and Bouchalakis left to distribute and link up with the 4 strikers. Madness and naive tactics should show Poyet the exit door because second place in this group was there for the taking. Look at Albania and Turkey with their campaigns, not much between Croatia and Poland in their groups, with a depleted Dutch side in ours.
