I believe Karnezis is the worst of the bunch and Vlachodimos is the best. Kapino did have a good game against Belgium but that’s about it. I think Barkas, Gianniotis and Vlachodimos should be our keepers in my opinion.

I don't understand the opposition to Karnezis. He plays at Napoli every other game in the Series A. He has four clean in 6 games. He has only let in 2 goals. He's a good back-up. Dropping him altogether for Pashalakis is idiotic.
It's unbelievable that Paschalakis is on the team let alone being considering for a starting role. If he starts, like Nick says, then it's down to his agent and whatever backroom deal he's got with the EPO. If that happens then we'll know that Anastasiadis is a puppet.
In my opinion, the only goalies worth a damn are the ones who play abroad. Greece should have Vlahodimos as starter, Karnezis as back-up, and Kapino as third string (once Kapino is fit again). Vlahodimos gets regular playing time for a very good club. He developed in Germany and has played for the German youth team. We are lucky to have him. Kapino has been at Mainz (understudy to Karius who then went to Liverpool) and he's now at Werder Bremen. He has his future in his hands and he will likely become an exceptional keeper if he can toughen up psychologically and improve the weak areas of his game. Both are under 25. Karnezis still plays every other game for Napoli. He has lots of experience at high levels. He's an excellent back-up. He's still at a good age for a keeper.
As for other options, they are either going to have leave Greece or they are trash to begin with. Until Barkas gets abroad, he cannot be seriously considered for a first team spot and I wouldn't rate him over either Karnezis nor Kapino. If they want to play Barkas against weak teams and help gain a move abroad, I can live with that. He has to play against higher quality opponents and undergo better quality training. He's not going to get better in Greece. As for Paschalakis, he doesn't belong period. He's trash and he's already 29. That goose got cooked in PAOK's 4-1 loss to Benfica. Gianniotis isn't good enough to start at OSFP for now, but he's still relatively young and an option to consider down the road if he's able to show the improvement needed.Comment

I am not sure if there's pressure on EPO due to Player Manager interests.....However I do believe there is direct or indirect pressure for the NT coach to be 'kind' to PAOK players to appease the Russian Pontian...
The pressure comes from 'PAOK are on top of the GSL...You must play our players...we can't be the outcasts forever in this country...."
I always thought Paschalakis was average....And Glykos beyond garbage.......

I just think Karnezis is too inconsistent in the nt. Yes he has the odd solid game for Greece, but to me he is too nervous most of the time it seems. Not as commanding in the box. For club it seems a bit different. He looks decent and looks like he makes a lot of saves.
If Kapino can start proving himself more and plays well in Germany than we should consider him a place, but for now he doesn’t belong. Barkas and Gianniotis I would take ahead of him.
We could agree though that Vlachodimos should be our no.1 for now. Regarding Paschalakis he is similar to Karnezis has a solid game than he seems to nervous and gets beaten easily. Dioudis I’m sort of 50/50 with but has been doing well. His height is a bit of concern regarding high balls but seems very athletic. Vlachodimos is the best of the bunch at rightfully so.Comment

I agree with everything except Kapino. Think he is dangerously bad. Easily beaten at his near post and even with shots straight at him. Also poor decision making when to come out and when to stay put.Comment

Maybe Kapino turns out to be another Chalkias, but the fact is he left Greece at a good age and he's learning his craft at Werder Bremen now. His performance away to Belgium showed he had enough quality to help in the kind of games we need a keeper to deliver. Barkas needs to leave Greece and further exposure with the NT might help him in that sense. Gianniotis needs to win his place at OSFP. Paschalakis is hopeless.Comment

I think I’m with Ethnikos about Paschalakis. By no means should he be the number 1. But I have seen a few games from him and he is very off and on. When he is on he is very impressive. When he is off his performance would be very bad. He is tall which is an advantage in the air. He has got the reflexes to make a big save. He can dive well also. I rate him over Karnezis.
This is the order I would put for the keepers
1. Vlachodimos
2. Gianniotis
3. Barkas
4.Paschalakis
5.Kapino
6.Dioudis
7.Karnezis
We have enough depth in this position. We should be grateful for this. Anyone of them is an option.

Benfica helped to produce both Emerson (now at City) and Oblak (now at Atletico), two of the game's most highly rated keepers. He's in a good place right now and he has to continue developing like he has.Comment
