Asteras are technically good. The final ball is missing though. With a sturdy defence and good counter, you can get all three points. I saw problems though with us sitting against giannena. They were finding a lot of space and getting balls in with ease. Now this was after 70min when we were tired but it has to be said that we lack a good anchor in front of the defence.
Thus far, we have been successful taking the game to the opposition. Hope we do not become too predictable with our attacking on the flanks.
If the pitch is good, should be a good technical game.

I think we should never sit back, play a little conservative like our previous away matches, and for the most part we controlled all aspects of those games. The 3 points is not more important than the development of the youngsters. The team needs to learn how to always attack, and so far it seems to come natural for them. To the point that the team looks tired in late stages of game, and that has to do with the fact these kids lack physical strength going up against veterans. However this should not concern the management much because the problem can only be solved with time. As they get a little older and put some muscle on them, we will see a big difference in their physical strength.Last edited by JVC; 10-05-2018, 12:48 AM.

I could've gone but i would've been sitting away from our fans and now i'm leaving and won't be back until next year :(
Instead i watched with nova and i thought it was a conservative approach to start. I guess donis picked up on asteras' troubles scoring so he invited the pressure.
Offcourse we are best when we are sitting high and trying to break down the opposition but when we tried this, we were uncharacteristically bad and this was especially in the second. If you think about it though, all our quality and speed is on the flanks. The two fullbacks, hatzi and bouzoukis (played on the right today). So it's comprehensible why we look to get the ball out wide.
In the centre we don't have much going for us. Kourbelis, tzantaris and donis is league average at best. A midfield of staikos, who has the chance to become something good, kace and bouzoukis is probably the best we can come up with from a quality perspective but due to inexperience, midfield balance and injuries, we are yet to see this. Staikos again coming off only after 20min. Remember this kid has already sat out a couple of years through injury.
We had to wait until the 87 to create a goal scoring chance, so it goes with out saying that we were bad in this one.
Playing at our potential, we are a much better side than what we showed but offcourse all that matters is what you bring on the day.
Credit to asteras for their organisation and the way they pressed. Much luck with their goal. They are a good side and probably should've killed off the game but as the scout report read, their final ball is a big issue for them.
And so a typical football script played out with us equalising. Hatzi who flirted with having a good game, used his pace to win the penalty. Again the pace from these youngsters pays off.
1-1 after a bad performance, away to a top 6 side, in front of a crowd, with this group, you take it and run, especially if your goal at the start of the season was to avoid relegation.
On a side note, mavromatis is bad with the ball at his feet (almost manolas like).
Dioudis has the bad superleague goalkeeping trait, were goalkeepers parry the ball to the opposing centre forwards. His positioning needs work as well.
If macheda gains a reputation, the centrebacks will be drawn to him mentally if not physically, whereby it creates space for the 2nd striker (assuming you opt for this system). This is why kampetsis had two good chances at the end. Would've been good had we kept klonaridis.Last edited by Val; 10-06-2018, 09:04 PM.

^^I'm not quite sure how you came to that conclusion. Did you watch the 2nd half?
This is a technically sound side we just played. They have the likes of tonso and tsilianidis who are very good on the ball, thus can keep it and drive their team forward. Thus far, we haven't faced a team of this nature. Giannena was the closest but no where near. First half was an arm wrestle but in the second we lost the midfield and it comes as no surprise with the likes of kourbelis, donis and tzandaris. Kourbelis is there to keep the balance but you can't have donis and tzandaris for these games. You're not playing some dead beat like lamia. It makes you inferior. The misconception with asteras is their results. Performance wise they've been good, despite their problems in the final third. Today their mentality cost them at the end. Why sit back when you are dominating? Sadly most sides in the league have this bad habit.

^^I edited my post before you posted a response. IMO the first half belong to us....we let them gain confidence by showing too much respect. To the point that Asteras is a talented side....they're at the bottom of the standings after 6 matches for a reason. The stats don't lie, 4 points and a negative 3. That said there's a lot of games to be played, and certainly they have time to turn around their season.
