katse who came on at least retained some of the ball. Not really a keeper (i think he's still on loan) but much, much better than son donis. Hatzitheororidis i think can also be an option in the middle. Not a lot of size about him but quick and good on the ball.

Dabizas need to really find us some defenders that are better on the ball. Mavromatis almost cost us again on two occassions in the 2nd, not to mention once in the first. Coulibaly as well on an isolated occasion and if it wasn't for mantalos screwing up his dribble, who knows...

This team also seems to lack some IQ which is nothing out of the ordinary for a superliga side. Hatzi lets the ball go out for a corner when he could've controlled it in the box and have fed his teammates also in the box. Bouzoukis chooses to pass to the wrong player, that being macheda who should've aimed to barkas right. Ball drops to Johansson on edge of the box when he can control and enter the box though chooses to volley and skies it. Obviously there's the heat of the moment but there are more i haven't mentioned.
I agree with your post Val. However I think this year is about paying off debts, getting into a European spot and hopefully having the ban lifted. That said we should have a good base built when it's time to increase the budget. At this point we're working with 2 million budget....imaging when it increases to 6 or seven, that's what's predicted for next season. If we think about it, that's a huge turnaround in one season....let's not forget we were predicted to be fighting in one of the relegation spots with our 2 million budget team. On the point you have been making about Donis, you're correct totally out of his realm what's asked from him by his father. He should be a sub, or develop him to be more of the Maniatis type player that played for Olympiakos....that role I can see Donis fitting into.

My perceived tone may be misleading. I'm happy that the team will likely finish top 5, whilst the effort these guys show is something we haven't seen in years.

Honestly if you were to ask me, i worry about increasing the budget under this management. Last time we did this, we found ourselves further into a hole. We need to just bring in a couple marquee signings at 700k each. We need at the very least someone like meli who's a cheap ass yes but keeps the finances under control. Alafouzos is dangerously incompetent. Dimitri offers a piece of mind but i worry his ego would get in the way of dabizas and donis work, who unlike him, know football.

Regarding donis, he really doesn't offer anything. Poor control, pass so you can't ask him to retain the ball. Mind you this is criminal because kourbelis can't do this either, thus playing the two together is asking for trouble. Donis can apply a tackle but not particularly known for it meaning he isn't a destroyer. He isn't slow but not fast either. Can't finish, so his runs in the box are pointless. When you are all this, it's natural to disappear in games which is what he does. I can't even see him becoming a maniatis. Maniatis had more determination and tenacity. I know it's an awkward situation being his dad is the coach which is why i was hoping he would leave before dad was appointed. Remember ouzo didn't know what to do with him and just stuck him up front as a poacher. He grabbed a couple of goals and the muppets advising alafouzos, kept him on. Kace who replaced him yesterday, got on the ball thus showing an unparalleled difference.

Happy with the performance overall against the reigning champs who are worth so much more than us. We need to take it to the gavs next week.

Thing is the result is underwhelming for me. First time this season you can say we dropped points. Macheda, Bouzoukis and Chatzitheodoridis all could have scored.

          Top crowd too. Looked packed.
