This can go either way... hopefully the sold out Toumba can get PAOK to Champions League for the first time

Yeah shouldn't have done that. They weren't looking at the ball when the cross came in. It's 2-4. They need to score next in the second half. Pelkas needs to take some control.

It would be an extraordinary comeback--not impossible--but 3 goals and hope that Benfica doesn't pop in another?

PAOK's old man mercenary army looked like old men tonight.

They're fucked. Some good attempts but not enough overall quality in the final 3rd. Europa is a better level for them.

Yea. This team would get raped in the CL.

And there is the obligatory red. Not a real Greek european game unless the Greek side get a deserved red for lack of discipline.

They totally blew it. Paschalakis made a really bad mistake to put Benfica in command of the game. He completely lost composure, panicked, and committed a ludicrous foul. This mistake may forever haunt his career, which is too bad because he's a good keeper despite this mistake.

Once PAOK went down 2-1, they needed to score 2 goals and that forced them to open up, giving room for Benfica to counter more effectively, which they did.

It may be years before PAOK get another chance like this to play UCL ball. This was perhaps they're best chance since 2004, when they blew it even worse by fielding an illegible player.

                          :)

They may collect a fair few points in the europa this season to help their coefficient. Their luck ran out tonight and their shoe-string defence was exposed. Their is something so amateur about them.

When you hire mostly mercenaries to play for your club, and the head of your organization is a huge shithead, it doesn't inspire loyalty. Players need to be playing for the club, not their own pocketbook, and when your club succeeds, your price goes up. By playing altruistically, you end up benefiting personally.

Unlucky, they did well to get this far. Knocking out Basel and Spartak is a decent achievement all the same as was the draw in Lisbon.

Anyway, thanks for the cheese :)
