Turkey actively trying to destroy Europe and the EU still has not cancelled Turkey's official accession to the EU. Not just that, Erdogan still wants to join!!

At the recent EU meeting, Erdogan's demands were as following:

2) VISA free travel for Turkish citizens
3) Upgraded trade agreement
4) Restart of Turkey's EU entry negotiations

I think Mitsotakis lacks experience and I still question his merits, but he's done OK so far. If it was Tsipras still in power, the Afghan and Turkic deserters would have been moved mainland we'd be encouraging them even further to continue their criminal efforts to cross our border.

Europe will not restart the accession process, will move towards privileged partner. The EU will not grant visa free travel, politically impossible. This was before this crisis. Hopefully this means that Europe will band together and realize that you have to protect ALL YOUR borders. The dam idea was brilliant, they were counting on the river subsiding to increase the flow of refugees. You take that out of the equation, you fall back to the land borders.

The Turks are escalating the situation as Erdogan has instructed that Turk coast guard vessels need to chase greek vessels. He has also likened Greece's actions to

Greece has apparently summoned the Turkish ambassador stationed in Athens (he should have been kicked out of the country along with a closure of the embassy back in November when Turkey announced the deal with Sarraj).

Turkey wants to trip Greece up in order to start a conflict, but if Greek personnel fire back, I do not think Turkey would have the balls to start an all out war. We must begin taking harsher measures. If a turk vessel is harassing a greek one, the personnel should open fire on the turkish one.

If a greek policemen/soldier comes under fire at evros, you fire right back.

If the ship sails into Greek territorial waters, and drops cables, Greece should sink the ship without asking any questions. We are getting to the point where since Erdogan got embarrassed by Russia in Idlib, Erdogan is looking for a win against Greece to soften the blow.

Greece cannot, under any circumstance, allow this.

Erdogan speaks of Greeks like Nazis. Mitsotakis needs to respond. He should remind the world and Erdogan of Turkey's pogroms and genocides. How Turkey is currently supporting al-Qaeda and that his country's illegal actions in Syria are largely responsible for the refugee crisis in the first place. It's up to Mitsotakis because the international media will take little notice otherwise.

They're trying to provoke an incident or hope to get away with something in the fog of it all. Don't expect the New York Times to report that, though. They tell us Greece is running a black site!

This how one migrant described his experience at this secret "black site":

Mr. al-Hussein, a trainee software engineer, spent that night in the rain on the bank of the Evros River, which divides western Turkey from eastern Greece. Early the next morning, he reached the Greek side in a rubber dinghy packed with other migrants.

But his journey ended an hour later, he said in a recent interview. Captured by Greek border guards, he said, he and his group were taken to a detention site. Following the group’s journey on his mobile phone, he determined that the site was a few hundred yards east of the border village of Poros.

The site consisted principally of three red-roofed warehouses set back from a farm road and arranged in a U-shape. Hundreds of other captured migrants waited outside. Mr. al-Hussein was taken indoors and crammed into a room with dozens of others. His phone was confiscated to prevent him from making calls, he said, and his requests to claim asylum and contact United Nations officials were ignored.

“To them, we are like animals,” Mr. al-Hussein said of the Greek guards.

After a night without food or drink, on March 1 Mr. al-Hussein and dozens of others were driven back to the Evros River, where Greek police officers ferried them back to the Turkish side in a small speedboat.

Mr. al-Hussein was one of several migrants to provide similar accounts of extrajudicial detentions and expulsions, but his testimony was the most detailed.

How is this worthy of the public's attention and concern? Greece runs a secure site, that's not even all that secret, to help deal with a sudden influx of migrants who are being used by Turkey as weapons and that Greece is suspending the review of asylum claims (for a month) as was previously announced by the Greek PM.

Several migrants said in interviews that they had been captured, stripped of their belongings, beaten and expelled from Greece without being given a chance to claim asylum or speak to a lawyer, in an illegal process known as refoulement. Meanwhile, Turkish officials said that at least three migrants had been shot and killed while trying to enter Greece in the past two weeks.

There's a video of a migrant smuggler waving a gun around, with a Turkish police lamely attempting to hide himself in the background, claiming he'll hurt the migrants if they don't cross the border, but there's no mention of this anywhere in the NYT's report. In the video the migrants claim they were lied to about where they were being taken. How can there be an article like this, a nothing black site, but no mention of how Turkey is assisting human smugglers and intimidating people to migrate to Greece?

The article highlights experts claims who say Greece's actions are illegal! Is crossing the border without documents or proper passage through customs legal now? Of course Greece has a right to detain them and deny their asylums claim. They can have their UN asylum claims processed in Turkey, no?

No mention of how Erdogan's threatens to flood Greece with migrants for geopolitical and territorial gain (as he has done elsewhere). No mention that only 4% of these recent migrants are confirmed to be Syrians (while more than half are Afghans and Pakistanis)! And the New York Times, so pathetic a paper as it is, still commands major influence and the way this articles reads will be reflected in other news outlets. Greece needs to get ahead of stories like this and prevent this sort of nonsense from filling pages and filling the heads of so many brain dead, brainwashed liberal morons. These drones who read this drivel and lap it up will be the death of us.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been scheming against European countries for a long time. For the second time since 2015, he has carried out his blackmail of migratory flooding by opening his land and sea borders with Greece to thousands of Syrian, Afghan, Iraqi, Pakistani, Somali refugees. Among them, there are certainly terrorist infiltrators who have shaved their beards or shed their burkas. This migration is his "nuclear" deterrent, a human pipeline intended to subject the European Union to pan-Islamism and expansionist oukases [Arbitrary decision, imperative order].

Idlib province is one of the last terrorist strongholds that the Erdogan regime has supported since the beginning of the so-called Arab Spring. The Arab spring’s impacts are now being measured in the aggregation of political, geopolitical, humanitarian, socio-economic and security aspects not only in Syria but also in Libya, Yemen and Tunisia. Tunisia being the most ‘successful’ in its spring by entrusting the reality of power to the servants of Erdogan that are the Muslim Brotherhood! The liberation of Idlib is at the root of this new and very serious migration crisis. Idlib province is the most advanced post of irregular Turkish troops (jihadists) in Syrian territory. In his defense of these terrorists, the Turkish autocrat invoked security and even "humanitarian" reasons, hundreds of inhabitants of these provinces who had fallen under the yoke of theocratic totalitarianism who could flee the war and take refuge in Turkey, like the 4 million Syrians already exiled to the country. Erdogan's deception is useless because it is himself who prevents Syrian refugees from returning to their villages, and who keeps them as a bargaining chip and leverage over Europe. Before carrying out his threats, Erdogan justified his plan to occupy Syrian territories by making Europeans believe that, rather than being invaded by thousands of Syrian refugees, it would be better for them to entrust Turkey’s neo-Ottoman mission to confine these refugees to Idlib and Aleppo.
But European leaders are no longer fooled. Even if it took them a long time to understand it, they now know that the Turkish regime has forged close links with the major terrorist organizations that were rampant in Iraq and Syria and whose ramifications go as far as Europe. At his joint conference in London with Donald Trump on December 3, 2019, French President Emmanuel Macron had the courage to declare: "When I look at Turkey, it now fights those (Kurds) who fought with us, alongside us against the Islamic state. Sometimes the Turks work with IS intermediaries. It's a problem and it's a strategic problem... The common enemy today are terrorist groups and I am sorry that we do not have the same definition of terrorism."

By opening the floodgates of his migration pipeline, Erdogan is thus breaking the 2016 pact with Brussels, under which the Turkish government pledged, against 6 billion euros, to fight illegal crossings. "Pirate state in the eastern Mediterranean" was the Cypriot Presidency's statement following the sending off Cyprus in January 2020 of Turkish gas drilling vessels. Erdogan's Turkey is now behaving like its barbaric ancestors by monetizing the lives of thousands of refugees. Having suffered the electoral consequences of welcoming more than a million asylum seekers in 2015-16, the German Chancellor was not fooled this time: "It is unacceptable for Ankara to put pressure on Europe on the backs of refugees".

As serious as it is for security and civil peace in Europe, especially in Greece and Bulgaria, the opening of the Turkish-Greek borders is far less perilous than Erdogan's barely concealed objective: to drag Europe into an armed conflict directly with the Russian-Syrian axis. For this is ultimately Erdogan's tactical but also strategic plan. This is despite Turkish new closeness with Russia, notably by buying S-400 anti-aircraft missiles in 2019, much to the chagrin of its historic American ally as well as NATO, of which Turkey has been a member since 1952. In so doing, Erdogan has crossed the Rubicon: Turkey was excluded from the acquisition program and manufacture of F-35 stealth aircraft and the US Congres and Senate passed a resolution calling the massacre of Armenians in Turkey in 1915 a genocide. In response, Erdogan threatened to close The Americans' access to NATO bases located in Incirlink and Korecik, prompting the United States to explore their transfer to Greece or even Saudi Arabia.

Playing with the duplicity dear to the Muslim Brotherhood to which he belongs, Erdogan is not at his first contradiction. On one hand, he grants himself missiles that pose a potential threat to the European Union members of NATO and, on the other hand, he sends to European countries the injunction to support him against Syria and its Russian ally in the name of the alliance which obliges signatory states to provide assistance to any other Member State that has been attacked or threatened. The problem is that Turkey is not an attacked state but an aggressor state, both vis-à-vis Syria - where it seeks to preserve its irregular army consisting of Daesh, Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda - and Greece on which it has just dumped its bomb migration, which in itself is a declaration of war.

Bellicose provocations against Greece are not new. Already in October 2016 in his speech in Rize, Erdogan was referring to the "borders of the heart" and the "historically Turkish" territories, notably Thessaloniki in Greece. And, in May 2018, he publicly threatened the European country with an imminent invasion of the Aegean Islands (Greek), more than ever claimed by Ankara because of the gas deposits that have been discovered there. He also raised the possibility of revising the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne, in which Turkey felt aggrieved, pretending to ignore the fact that it had instead expanded its territory in relation to the Treaty of Sevres of 1920, at the expense of Greece and Armenia.

With the opening of the Turkish-Greek borders, the sword of Damocles has just fallen on the land of Pericles, the wise and Athenian strategist who gave his name to the century of the greatness of Athens, and whose political genius Thucydides and Aristotle have praised. The same Pericles who, because of the Peloponnesian wars, told his detractors: "We fight for the other cities, and we distance the barbarians from their borders." Today Greece must face this invasion for its own integrity and for all European countries. A major challenge that President Emmanuel Macron understood perfectly in tweeting last Sunday: "Full solidarity with Greece and Bulgaria, France is ready to contribute to European efforts to provide them with rapid assistance and protect borders."

Erdogan provokes a new migration crisis, threatens Cyprus with invasion, galvanizes the Turkish diaspora against the European countries hosting them, extends its ideological influence on the Balkans, and finally, moves thousands of jihadists to Libya. Beyond Erdogan's punctual and immediate motivations there is a formidable and underlying pan-Islamic and neo-Ottoman project that should be detected and combated.

Frustrated with Europe, which refused him membership, Erdogan is positioning himself as the leader of an anti-Western alternative, that of the East against the West, of Islam against Christianity, of the colonized against the colonizers, of the "damned of the earth" against the dominators. He thus plays on the geopolitical efficiency of atavisms [former traits that had disappeared] and cultural antagonisms, on the clash of civilizations so aptly revealed by Huntington in 1993. If, however, these shocks were to occur, it would not take place between the West and the Muslim world, but between a despot at the end of his reign and an Arab-Western alliance ready to take up the challenge.

To assist in distracting the Turkish population of his failures in Syria and the economy, Erdoğan has fully utilized Turkish media to assist in the propaganda campaign. Turkey is one of the lowest ranked countries for media freedoms in the world, is the second most susceptible country surveyed on the European continent to fake news, has the most journalists jailed in the whole world, and 90% of media is government controlled. It is fair to be sceptical of Turkey and its coverage of the latest migrant crisis, and here is why.

On Saturday, Bosnian Muslim reporter Semir Sejfovic of Turkish state-owned TRT World made such a comical performance that Twitter users are mocking him to be an Oscar nominee after his elaborate attempts to accuse Greek police of firing live ammunition into Turkey. It is one comical performance that has to be seen to be believed. The ridiculousness of the performance was so much so that several screen grabs show even the illegal immigrants surrounding Sejfovic laughing during the “intense firing” of live ammunition by the Greek police. Other users questioned why illegal immigrants much closer to the border fence and seen in the background of the video never took cover and continued standing as usual during the alleged shooting, something Sejfovic has refused to answer.

In another incident on Saturday, TRT World published photos claiming Greek soldiers stripped and robbed illegal immigrants of their clothes, mobiles and money. The problem? In other photos not published by TRT World, the same illegal immigrants are seen in front of a camera phone preparing to take the propaganda photos, while in another photo a mobile phone is clearly seen inside the pocket of a “robbed” illegal immigrant.

Greece's first woman president vows to defend borders, rights, warns on virus

Katerina Sakellaropoulou, a 63-year-old former senior judge, said she would "walk together" with Greeks to create a "prosperous" and "cosmopolitan" future "that includes all of us."

She should walk "together" with the "cosmopolitans" in that "prosperous" glimpse of the future that is Omonia.

Sakellaropoulou said Greeks had to "repulse the aggression of those who make designs on our national sovereignty by making use of human pain."

The new president also insisted that Greece had a "humanitarian duty" to defend "defenceless and desperate people."

Turkey's geopolitical designs on our sovereignty have as much to do with altering the demographic makeup of Greece to include more Muslims as it does with overcrowding our borders. Back in October, Erdogan declared jihad against the kuffar (that's us).

We have no moral nor humanitarian duty to let these people in. If they are Christians or if they are moderate Muslims who are running away from Muslim persecution, if they are genuine dissidents of repressive regimes, then yes let them in. The majority, however, are not and we need to turn them away. She should say that, but of course she does not. More empty, meaningless drivel. She has no resolve or will to truly stand up for our country and our enemies will see that.

"It is time for the women of this country to realise that they can fulfil their dreams based on their merit, without facing obstacles just because they were born female," she said.

Maybe we should put an actual obstacle in place by requiring candidates for Greece's presidency to complete a mandatory spell of military service. And as far as I can tell, she was only elected precisely because she is a woman. Some obstacle.

Our leaders need to toughen up unless in the future she wants the office of the president to become the office of the vizier.
