Haftar to Enter Tripoli by New Year in ‘Final’ Battle, Ally Says

At the same time, the war for the capital has drawn in growing Russian intervention on Haftar’s behalf. At least 1,000 mercenaries from the Wagner Group, headed by Yevgeny Prigozhin, an associate of President Vladimir Putin, have deployed to Libya since September in support of the eastern-based commander, according to Western officials and a person in Moscow familiar with the matter. Russia has denied the presence of its mercenaries in Libya, while the LNA says “very small” numbers of Russians are helping it to fix weapons.

Within six months after the LNA eventually captures Tripoli, the Haftar-allied government plans to conduct national elections and establish a new ruling authority, said Lahweej. Sarraj, whose GNA forces are branded as terrorists by Haftar despite cooperating on counter-terrorism with the U.S. and its allies, will be “dealt with according to the law,” he said. “He betrayed Libya to the Turks.”

Haftar is also backed by the CIA. The US may publicly back the GNA, but Haftar was and is a CIA man. Egypt, Saudi, UAE, etc, support Haftar. Russia supports Haftar. Only the Turks support the GNA. The GNA looks destined to fall, much like how Erdogan's Muslim Brotherhood buddies fell in Egypt.

I think Mitsotakis will wait to talk with Trump a month from now. I think it would make sense to offer Haftar air support against the Turks. Putting troops on the ground should only come if the Turks do it, which they have yet to do, although they're willing at this point.

An ally of his said it a couple of days ago, now he has actually ordered them. Good. The GNA are a bunch of Islamists who were warring among themselves before they came together for their greater cause of Islam. It's a joke the UN supports them. I don't think the Turks will lift a finger to help them.

They are lifting plenty of fingers to help Sarraj and his islamic fanatics. I saw a tweet highlighting a cargo plane (likely loaded with weapons) take off from Turkey, into Greek airspace, and land in Tripoli.

Turkey is actively arming/helping the GNA.

I also saw a report yesterday from a Haftar backer stating that Turkey has had Turks on the ground in Libya since last April.

Greeks are very lucky this happening. However they are unlucky they don't have the IQ to make sure this Haftar takeover removes the agreement. Haftar should have greek diplomats on the phone to him 24/7 and Greek troops should be on the ground offering logistical support.

Because the greeks are not doing this, this again gives the gap for the Turks to take up the slack and make Haftar their friend.

Now Hellas - put Greek special forces on the ground in Libya to offer logistical support to Haftar. The moment is perfect.

Turks are sending in heavy troops direct to Libya from 2nd January. They hope to secure the nation and then Crete is all but lost as any significant Greek entity. It will simply be a Greek island in an Ottoman pond.

Greeks are sitting on their hands watching in horror - desperate - but determined to allow Turkey to take over the region sadly.

Greek army should be assisting Haftar.
