It’s time for JVS to go. He’s had his time. We’ve gone downhill since he took over. These group of players are good enough in my opinion to go to a tournament. A player like Pelkas proved he is better than Bakasetas. Mantalos has regressed so much I can’t believe it. Bouchalakis is too slow.


He didn’t play Alexandropoulos who is by far our best CM and JVS doesn’t know it. Tzolis is by far our best attacking player and only gets 30 minutes. Give these 2 a few full 90 minute games and see what happens. But no he has to stick to Bakasetas, Bouchalakis etc. How can he not pick a proper more experienced RB like Kitsiou or Kotsiras. Even though they aren’t the greatest they are RBs who can do the job. Androutsos should be playing CM and be used as a player than be put in any position and a reliable player to cover most positions of need be. He’s good.


How can you play 3 or 5 man defence against teams like this. Play 4 at the back from the start and start Limnios, Tzolis and Alexandropoulos.

Even though we had a few players out there’s no excuse in not beating these type of teams like Kosovo. JVS has failed. JVS out for me…

Dean, can I ask, what showed that Pelkas is better than Bakasetas?

For me Pelkas has some glimpses of brilliance but they are far and few, for the Ethniki he has, for the most part been very poor, Baka is not much different but he has made a difference at times, something I can never see Pelkas do, a great example is the goal Bakasetas scored v Sweden, Pelkas had a very similar opportunity today to make it 2-0 and passed it their keeper

Like you said he shows some glimpses of brilliance. It’s just Pelkas all round play that makes him better. He’s more agile and better on the ball. The way he twist and turns and he has speed. He’s much faster than Bakasetas. I don’t see Bakasetas assisting Masouras the way he Pelkas did in the Kosovo game. Or scoring the header. Bakasetas is slow and too one dimensional. He had one good game for Greece against Sweden. But that’s after like 40 games. I also don’t see Bakasetas chipping the keeper the way Pelkas did against Georgia I think a month ago.

I’m not saying Pelkas is the answer but I would rather depend on him for the whole campaign instead of Bakasetas. I also do agree Pelkas has been inconsistent for Greece aswell. In my opinion Bakasetas and JVS are the reason why the team failed to qualify. Ofcourse the whole team is at fault but these 2 were the big part of the problem.

I tend to agree. Most games playing with Bakasetas we were effectively playing with 10.

Cant agree at all... Hardly better on the ball, does not hold it up much, he has more speed for sure but Baka has a heap of assists, just cause Pelkas assisted the goal v Kosovo with a cross, what about all of Baka's assists and goal work v Sweden to earn a win there.

Maybe Pelkas needs more opportunity but besides the Norway game he really hasn't delivered, Pelkas nearly squandered the break away goal v Georgia so not a great example, most of your examples Baka has shown more of or provided more for club and country also.

I personally think Greece has a big whole with this position atm, Fortounis may not come back as good as he was and I would start looking at someone like Botos, or if we play Baka play with wingers like we used to, a big part of the reason this campaign has been so bad was the new formation JVS adapted which hardly compliments us, especially with mediocre no.10s.

Thing is with great players, the question should be - who has scored more, created more or been more essential.

With players like Pelkas and Bakasetas the question should be which player has harmed the NT more. Considering his complete destruction of attacking movement - and the fact he plays every single game he is available for, Bakasetas is easily the worst player the NT has for my money.

As for Pelkas, don't like him. We have better wingers than him like Gianniotas, Masouras, Tzolis, PAO's wingers etc.. Not keen on his style of play or ambiguity - not worth playing considering he has 1 good game every 8 anyway. Out of him or Bakasetas as a 10, I would take Pelkas for his speed, but both are garbage imo. Mandalos too.

I wouldn't play any of these 3 as a classic 10. Better 10s are Ninis, Fetfa, Fortounis, Bouzoukis etc.

If we have Fetfa, Ninis and Fortounis as options then talking about who’s better between, Pelkas and Bakasetas is pointless, as those 3 are vastly superior then them. I’d rather take Botos or Bouzoukis instead of Baka. Even if they haven’t done anything special for there clubs lately, I would still pick them based on there talent on the field alone. I’d rather take someone with talent, speed, creativity, skill and intelligence over someone who hasn’t got these qualities and doing well for there club.

I agree about Bouzoukis, but I suspect if we had given him the 43 NT games we gave Bakasetas, he would have done far far more with them. We have allowed VS to allow Bakasetas to lead us through 2 qual campaigns now..
