In our last failed quals, that had the weakest teams in our group, Tzavellas was less a backbone and more a corset.. but, he knows how to play the media game. He looked angry everytime we lost so that shows he has passion.. or something like that.. he still gets raped at cb.. often.

Amorgos Your right we should give credit where it’s due and Tzavellas hasn’t really put a foot wrong since he’s played lately. But I still stand with what I believe and Tzavellas doesn’t deserve to start over someone like a Retsos or Mavropanos. Retsos and Mavropanos would be my personal choices for the CB pairing. I believe it could work. They are our best in my opinion.

The thing is it’s frustrating to see him play because we all know we can do better in this position.

good talent for the future but given the importance of the coming games, JVS isn’t gona just drop our best CB and have new blood in there for these games. Need to put some context into whole thing.

If you go back to my post you took issue with, the one you called bs, I am specifically talking about the last qual campaign where he lead our defence. The post even begins “in our last quals..” It was not just one goal he cost us, we still have the threads here from that campaign. Some of his defending was atrocious and against low class teams. I am happy to admit in the meaningless friendlies since he has looked OK and has plenty of fight or Tzabouka or whatever the Greek media think it is.. Remember, I was also highly critical of the Sokratis and Manolas combo - who also leaked goals for fun.

Unbelievable… Tzolis and Mavropanos are out for the next games. Both players who were inform are now out. Tzolis will be out for 3 weeks and not sure about Mavropanos. By the way he scored an excellent goal just recently in the Bundesliga. An attackers goal.

Whatever happens, I am pretty sure Bakasetas will be fit for all the games this campaign so on the plus, we don't have to worry about how to fit Tzolis in with Bakasetas and the other 3 left backs.

Seems like there’s no doubt Bakasetas starts regardless of who’s inform or who’s better. These games could be Van’t Schip’s last if we lose them. So he’s got big decisions to make.
