West Brom made a bid to loan Mantalos (as there window is closed but they can still loan), they offered €2m now and €6m next summer, it was rejected.

However reading some comments on FB it appears most people wanted him gone saying "sell him yesterday" and "I'll bring him to the airport myself, quite surprising tbh, do a lot of people not rate him? Sure he has had 2 bad injuries but to want him gone 1 day before the window closes is ludicrous.

As soon as Boye and Albanis come back, and now with Gianniota (and hopefully Narsingh) I think we will see more of him in his natural position where he is hard to be matched.

Just read the news about Mantalos and I'd be shocked if we sold him. He's the heart and soul of the team regardless of his injuries and would be a major loss if he were to leave.

For sure they are planets apart, like you said Rivaldo was super fit for his age and went on to play into his 40s. But he will do them more good than bad I feel.

I have nothing against the loan with option to buy, why not? If the player turns out to be great (Livaja) you sign the agreed fee, if he turns out to be a dud you send him back. Simple and smart.

I hate loan deals because if even a player works out, there's no guarantee he'll want to stay even if you agree to purchase them.

Then you have to find another player to newly gel with your team. It's a waste of time and effort when you're looking for group synergy.

He was so inconsequential during that loan period that the loan turned out to be a good thing and revealed he's pretty much on the last swirl down the toilet. We're well rid of him. Even if we have him in the squad I don't see him playing anything but cup games. Great highlight reel of goals on YT, however. Just not while he was with us.

He's too inconsistent, too lightweight to be a prolific striker, not fast enough, not strong enough, and doggone it, nobody likes him.

Well it looks like we arent bringing in anybody afterall. Nobody of any significance anyway, the free transfer market is open until September 14th so Kone and Gianniotas basically is what we get for entering the CL.

Anyway, if Simoes gets injured we are screwed. If Ponce gets injured we are even more screwed for CL with Giakoumakis being our starter for 3 games.
