Humans tend to do what they want. The only thing that stops us doing violent things daily is the fear of the consequences when caught. In Greece, a succession of leftist governments have ensured no one is ever brought to account for anything. So violence will be endemic until the day Greek leader seeks to ensure basic law and order. We are not talking Swiss law and order here, even Brazilian style law and order would be a welcome raise in level for Greece.

Very sad how backwards the country is and the general mentality that holds it back

Well, the referees are on strike now so there's no Superleague this weekend. Perhaps it will recommence on 4th January.

So the sl ends for the year..

Yip each cog of the machine is as stupid as the next. Every league suspension has solved nothing. These Greeks remind me of Pacific Islanders with their rituals. The Greek ritual is suspend the league anytime something happens. Refs, politicians, officials - they all believe the suspension of the league ritual will appease the communist Gods they think rule over Greeks. Time some christian missionaries from the 21st century visited Greece and explained how arresting and punishing criminals is a better answer than the ritual suspension of the league - which only makes things worse.

The government is never going to clean house and get rid of hooliganism. The government (from all over the political spectrum) would rather have hell in the stadiums rather than have the same people on the street.

Anyway, back onto the subject. The talk is that this beating has been ordered but I don’t think that surprises anyone.

Where have you been? There have been riots by hooligans all year in the streets. They riot inside the stadiums, outside, in streets no where near stadia - not even on match days, they attack refs in the streets, in stadia, refs in meetings - they wake up on the other side of bed one morning and put on a Palestinian scarf and riot against capialism, they firebomb businesses, police cars, private vehicles, Govt agencies and EPO premises, they rob steal and loot, they put on whatever football shirt can get them near the riot like the pao fans dressed up as Ajax recently. This is a long established criminal fraternity shielded and nurtured by a basic lack of law and order. Athens even has its own anarchist district that has riots every other day. Dont listen to crack pot greeks who say it is a CIA set up or some political conspiracy by the troika to weaken Greece.

The last time there was basic law and order in Greece was in the 70s and many many many Greeks loved that period.. the country was the fastest growing economy in the world behind Japan. Then PASOK got in by toppling the junta and we are back to where we were before the junta. Anarchy, organised violence against private and public property and against all state mechanisms and in return for this delinquency? A confused sick and perverted apology for the violence. Syriza blamed the hooliganism this year on bad stadiums and a lack of hope. This is communist apologisim. Venezuela issues similar bizarro apologies as do leaders of religious death cults.

Yep, the customary league suspension for the sake of it...

On this I do get the refs would want to strike though, what’s happened is very shocking but really, until people start getting arrested in Greece nothing will change.

Actually think no one will ever get arrested in greece and the only solution to the terrorism against the refs is to go full foreign with all the refs for all sl games.

Greek societal issues seeping into the SL is disturbing.

The problem is there's no one held accountable, we see with hooligans and we see it with the other morons who break shit and hurt people for the hell of it.

Then we wonder why Greece can't be taken seriously

Worst 'highest attendance' I've seen for some time.

Remember when Chalikidona merged with Atromitos because 'Atromitos had the fans'... yeah... all 537 of them.

With all things in Greece, you can never discount the possibility that the numbers are reported low for tax reasons. I think that they check a bit more thoroughly these days though.

As anyone sane would have predicted, Koriopolis was a total farce.
