What’s hilarious about this failed referendum is it means almost 70% that obstajned did so because they actually believe that they are the one and only Macedonia and refused to negotiate with Greece. Their view is that it would be embarrassing for a country to tell it how to identify. Irredentism and doctored history has ruined the mind set of an entire country really and Tsipras was giving them Macedonia on a platter. Going forward it’ll be interesting how this shapes their perception worldwide. Aside from being a country run by corruption, they are a pariah state that is not in NATO or EU and does not have great relations with any of its neighbors.

As it stands, the state is a 'Macedonian' state the same way Israel is a 'jewish' state. The Albanians and Arabs in both cases have no nationhood influence. 100,000s of Muslim Albanians will have to refer to themselves as Northern Macedonians under the current communist brokered agreement. The whole negotiation has been about respecting the slavo-bulgars only. The Albanians are the biggest backers of the deal so their influence has been counter productive to the process. The more Albanian they feel - the weaker Fyrom is.Originally posted by RED SHERIFF View PostIf the country split in two it would be worse for Greece ,,,because then you would have a 'ethnic macedonian' state to deal with....
I'd rather Greece be dealing with the mix of different groups in this tin pot republic...more chance to negotiate a good outcome for us if they are facing pressures from within...
and please...we don't need nor want a land grab from this mire....

I actually thought these Monks (my new word for Monkeydonians) were smarter than this.Originally posted by Filikieteria1821 View PostWhat’s hilarious about this failed referendum is it means almost 70% that obstajned did so because they actually believe that they are the one and only Macedonia and refused to negotiate with Greece. The nationalists are painfully spasticated, you'd have to assume a whole nation can't be that stupid. Guess I was wrong, exclude the Albanians and how many voted "Yes"? 15%?
Fuck them, they'll never get a deal that good again and they've lost international support. We were willing to compromise, they weren't.
Hopefully now the go ahead is given for Bulgaria and Albania to swallow up this plastic piece of shit cuntry.

They're not smart because their school system has literally told them that they are the one and only, true descendants of alexander the great. So you have a portion of the population (likely the younger crowd) that would compromise, and get into NATO and EU for more opportunity, while the majority seem to be indoctrinated well beyond the point of salvation.
The western powers are urging the referendum be put to parliament, but Zaev does not have the support necessary and I have a hard time seeing the VRMO party signing on.
The prespes "agreement" may be DOA. It's too early to tell and there will be enormous pressure placed on them by foreign actors to get this deal done. The EU and NATO want to further influence in the balkans, I'm hoping these morons are so mind fucked that they continue passing on the golden opportunity afforded to them by Greece's worst prime minister

We should all hope for elections. This may be the tipping point. If Zaev is ousted, and you have the VRMO get back into office, then the agreement is really off the table. Down side is they'll return to their nationalistic bullshit, not like it ever disappeared under Zaev.
But, all of this shit doesn't matter so long as Tsipras and Kotzias are in power.

Parliament vote set for October 10th in FYROM. Zaev needs another 8 seats in order to pass the deal....2 more days and this deal may finally die.
I will say that it's sad that if this deal dies, it'll be because of them and how brainwashed they are. But this issue was never going to be solved with a "name" deal anyways.
These kind of matters are dealt with tougher actions and we will see if any Greek politician comes to the forefront to spearhead those actions

The deal is a abomination for both sides. For Greeks it gives away 'Macedonian' identity and cultural and historical ownership of the name. For Fyromians it sidelines their whole brainwashed idea of their nation as a Northern part of a once whole fictional nation. It is unfinished business for them and puts them on a war footing to reunite 'Macedonia.'
This 'deal' is a leftist horror show and exactly the type of pathway deal that will lead to a future war. A future where frustrated communists like Tsipras will want to reunite his slavic ancestors with Skopje.
